Crow of Judgement, an OSR Meme Monster

CrowOfJudgement

Crow of Judgement

A spiteful small fiend in the shape of a ragged black crow

AC 13 | HP 8 | Att. +3, dmg 1d4+1 |

| STR +1 | DEX +3 | CON +0 | INT -1 | WIS +2 | CHA +1 |

Move: near, Fly: far, Morale: 8 Languages: Common & infernal, simple short phrases.

Silent Watcher:

Perches motionless in shadows, blending in (like a hidden trap). Players must say they search the area to spot it.

Marks the Guilty, 1 PC / round:

If the crow sees a PC commit a sin (e.g., steal, lie, harm an innocent or party member), it swoops right over their head and shrieks: "YOU ARE JUDGED!" (all enemies within earshot now know the PC’s location). The marked PC takes -1 to all rolls until they drive the crow away (PC must pass CHA save DC 15 as an action) or crow is killed.

Dive bomb Peck Attack, 1 / round:

Flies straight at face of target, pecking at eyes (+3 to hit, 1d4+1 damage), on a hit, the PC suffers -2 to attack the next turn.

Mocking Caw, 1 PC / round:

When a PC fails an attack or roll near it, the crow ridicules their failure with short spoken taunts in a raspy, shrill voice and/or mimicking them, humiliating them. Any NPCs who hear this lose respect for the PC until crow is dead or has been gone for 24 hours or more. Crow can do still do it's Dive Bomb Peck Attack in same round that it mocks a PC, but at -2 and this attack goes last in round.

Intense judgement

When encountered, the Crow of Judgement will loudly and conspicuously perch nearby and observe the party for 1d4 rounds. If no party member fails an ability check (including attacks, spell casts, and using a skill) during this period, the Crow will leave, satisfied.

For any party members that fail an ability check in the presence of the Crow, the Crow will fixate on them with a deeply unsettling stare that makes every task more difficult. This player receives a -2 modifier to all ability checks. This modifier increases by -2 for every subsequent failed check.

The crow will follow a party for 1d4 days or until bribed to leave.

Unnatural reflexes

The crow can turn any successful physical attack or hostile spell cast against it into a failure. This failure counts towards Intense Judgement, causing the crow to fixate on a player or increasing the negative modifier as appropriate.
