I got two personal emails through my blog, that is awesome!
I have barely blogged for more than two weeks, yet I got two emails. Both were a pleasure to get and read.
The one I got today was from a dude in Taiwan! I learned a little about Taiwan, for instance: "It's the country with the second-highest population of vegetarians per capita, after India."
It is really nice to get a thoughtful message from someone I have never met, whether they live close or across the world.
These days mail is mostly used to send you an endless stream of automated "noreply@xxxxx.com" notifications and updates. Only some of those emails have a tiny "unsubscribe" link at the bottom. If you are lucky. Sometimes, you have to make an account in order to be able to unsubscribe,..
All the above, and that is with with Posteo having a good spam filter and with me being quite diligent about keeping my inbox as clean as is practical on a week to week basis, unsubscribing often and doing a very big clean up every year or so.
It is really good to see that email still can be, and is still used for person to person communication and even connection, that a "tiny internet" community like bearblog and others can foster this.
Anyway, I do indeed like real person email. Particularly if the mail is kind in nature!

EDIT: I got another a day after I first posted the above, from Scotland this time. :)
